Kinosaki Inspirations

Kinosaki Plus 1: Cycling Adventure to the Japan Sea!

Rent a bicycle and start your journey from Kinosaki. Follow the Maruyama River until you reach the beautiful Japan Sea!

  • Rent a bicycle or an electric one, and let's kick off our journey!

Start at Kinosaki Onsen Station and ride towards the Maruyama River, and then turn left to cross the railway.

Kinumaki Shrine

  • Continue north along the Maruyama River to an intersection, then turn right and cross the Minato Bridge to reach Kinumaki Shrine.

Hyogo Prefectural Maruyamagawa Park

  • Peddle south along the road to reach the Hyogo Prefectural Maruyamagawa Park.

This area features an art museum and various recreational facilities.

In summer, families can enjoy boating and swimming, while winter offers ice skating.

Kehi Beach

  • Passing through the long Kinumaki Tunnel leads you to Kehi Beach, where you can enjoy the sea breeze and watch people sunbathing.

Tai Wetlands

  • Continue along the coast, leaving the sea behind and embracing the mountains, until you reach the Tai Wetlands.

These wetlands are just to the right of Kehi Beach.

The forest is beautiful on clear days and mysterious on cloudy ones.

You may see some Oriental White Storks here!

Local Scenery

  • Take in the natural beauty, then hop back on your bike. Return across the Minato Bridge and head north on the same road.

At a three-way intersection, turn right.

Ride freely between the port and residential areas, enjoying the scenery and local architecture.

  • Continue north to Hiyoriyama, Coastal Kinosaki. Here, you'll face a steep uphill—cyclists, keep going!

As the view opens up, you'll arrive at the edge of the Japan Sea.

Hiyoriyama’s steep cliffs offer stunning views of the deep blue sea.

Look down to see waves crashing against rugged rocks.

Dragon Palace

  • You'll be able to spot raised buildings on the sea, said to be the legendary Dragon Palace.

As the sun sets over pavilions and terraces, imagine ancient people gazing at their mythical abode.

Marine World

  • The endpoint of your journey is Kinosaki Marine World, a magical place for both adults and children to enjoy.

Afternoon Snack

  • Rest up before heading back to Kinosaki! On the way, stop by Futakata Kamaboko, a local specialty store, to try some fish cakes.

Don't forget to return your bicycle at Kinosaki Onsen when you're done!
