Built in 1937, Steam Locomotive C5711 was originally tasked with hauling passenger cars for the Kamome Limited Express along the San’in Line from Tokyo to Kobe.
Eventually, C5711 was moved to Downtown Toyooka and served the area along with Kyoto, Himeji, and Yonago.
With the move from smoke-emitting steam locomotives to more environmentally-friendly trains, C5711 was retired in 1972 and displayed in Toyooka’s Central Park.
