The Kannabe Highlands are an area covered by an extremely fertile soil known as “kuroboku-do,” formed from the volcanic ash and lava flows of Mount Kannabe, which erupted approximately 25,000 years ago.

Agriculture thrives here, taking full advantage of this exceptional volcanic ash soil and the significant temperature differences between day and night that are characteristic of the highlands.
Notable crops include Kannabe Highlands cabbage, watermelons, apples, and strawberries.
