TAKENO
Takeno is a beautiful little town located next to the Sea of Japan. Takeno’s life and presence can be found all along the coast, around the Takeno River, and into the mountains. Small Japanese inns can be found throughout the entire town and are very popular during the summer months. Seafood and fish are synonymous with life in Takeno. With the different seasons; different delicacies, activities, and scenery can be enjoyed.Takeno Beach
With clear, calm, and transparent waters and 1 km of white sandy beach, this is the perfect spot to take a dip in the sea. Beach season is officially open from July to August and is most lively during this time. But do not let that stop you from going for a swim outside of these months. Takeno is one of the top 100 swimming beaches in Japan according to the Ministry of the Environment. The beach is a 20 min walk from JR Takeno station, just one stop north of JR Kinosaki Onsen Station.

Located near Takeno Beach, Kitamaekan Center offers various services for visitors. Those services include a restaurant, hot springs, a free educational exhibition about Takeno, bicycle rentals, a gift shop, and a reception for water sport activities. Takeno Hot Springs
These hot springs are found next to Takeno Beach inside Kitamaekan Center on the 2nd floor. They are rich in sodium, calcium, and chloride which are said to help heal the body. Relax and enjoy views of the Sea of Japan from both the sauna and outdoor bath. Tattoos are permitted.
