We are delighted to announce that Toyooka city (the home of Kinosaki Onsen) will be attending Hyogo week in the Japan Pavilion at World Expo Milano 2015 from 16th-19th July! The theme of Hyogo week is `Feel Hyogo, the Taste of Japan!`.
We will be introducing aspects of Toyooka city related to the Expo Milano slogan `Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life`.
What will we be introducing? Well, perhaps you haven’t heard but Toyooka city not only has an abundance of relaxing onsens (the most famous being Kinosaki Onsen, but also delicious food!
Toyooka`s wetlands are an important habitat for the Oriental White Stork and thus we will introduce our natural Konotori (Stork) rice. After the Oriental White Stork became extinct in the wild in the 1970s, Toyooka had to devise natural farming methods using low to no pesticides in order to create a healthy environment for the storks, which have now been reintroduced through captive breeding. The result of this stork-friendly farming is a delicious and natural white rice. We will be using this rice to cook up a Japanese style risotto as part of our events!
We are very excited to introduce our beautiful region and environmental initiatives to the world.
See you in Milan!
